The USP/APEC ‘Supply Chain Security Toolkit for Medical Products’
Readers of my previous posts will be aware of the increasing importance of Supply Chain Integrity and Security (SCIS) in relation to supply chain management and global commerce. The outsourced nature of business today, coupled with globalisation and its impacts on manufacturing, means SCIS is as relevant as ever. This is no more so than in the health and life sciences sector, where ‘bad’ product could result in death or significant injury. Recognition of these risks has led to new legislation, such as the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) in the United States, with many other countries following suit. The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum has also released its own guidance to help Asia-Pacific countries uplift their own standards.
